Ως ηλεκτρολόγος μηχανικός, ασχολείσαι με τα ηλεκτρονικά, την ηλεκτρική ενέργεια, τα συστήματα ελέγχου και την επεξεργασία σημάτων. Εφαρμόζεις τη φυσική και τα μαθηματικά για τον σχεδιασμό και την ανάπτυξη ηλεκτρονικών προϊόντων και συστημάτων. Βασίζεσαι σε λογισμικό σχεδιασμού με υποστήριξη υπολογιστή (CAD) για τη δημιουργία σχηματικών διαγραμμάτων για ηλεκτρικά εξαρτήματα και δημιουργείς προσομοιώσεις που επεξηγούν τις λειτουργίες των ηλεκτρικών συσκευών. Επιπλέον, κάνεις συντήρηση και πραγματοποιείς δοκιμές στις συσκευές για να εξασφαλίσεις την ορθή λειτουργία τους.

Για να γίνεις ηλεκτρολόγος μηχανικός, χρειάζεσαι διάφορες δεξιότητες, από τη βασική θεωρία κυκλωμάτων έως δεξιότητες διαχείρισης έργων. Είναι εξίσου σημαντικό, να γνωρίζεις την λειτουργία εξειδικευμένων εργαλείων, όπως απλών βολτόμετρων, ακριβών αναλυτών και προηγμένου λογισμικού σχεδιασμού και κατασκευής.
